Egg-cited about Dinosaurs

Silbury and Wylye children have had an exciting start to their new classes. An amazing dinosaur egg has been found and this led to lots of wonderful speculation from the children about where it came from and how it got there. Children were eager to give their ideas – “A Pterodactyl dropped it”, “A dinosaur has lost it and will be really sad”, “I think its from a T-rex because it is the same colour as a T-rex – all spotty!”

Westbury Leigh Primary wants to make a difference.

As part of World Environmental Day all children in our school joined together in a big project to think about our use of plastic. Eco club started the day with an assembly which shared facts about the growing problem of using single use plastics. These plastics include plastic water and fizzy drink bottles, plastic straws, plastic cups and plastic bags. We found out that plastic easily gets washed out into the sea and has a dramatic impact on wildlife. In 2050 it is estimated that there will be more plastic bottles in the sea than fish. This is something that made many of the pupils sad. “If we have no fish, the sea will lose all of its colours.” We want to make a change.

The World Environmental Committee has asked everyone to reduce, reuse, recycle or refuse our use of plastic. We found how we can help by buying reusable cups and bottles, paper straws and reusable bags.

To help remind us of the amazing fish in the sea we made our own.

We love fish not plastic.

Key Stage 2 parents are invited in to see the exhibition on Monday 2nd July at 3:10pm.

Meet our new Performing Arts Ambassadors for Year 3

Hello my name is Owen. I’m the new performing arts ambassador for year three. I think I will  be good at the role because when I did a plan for my Egyptian picture I did it very well. I like and singing and music, I like acting but I also like football.

Hello my name is Lucy. I am so proud to be a performing arts ambassador because I am good at art, and I think I can help others with art. I like singing because I am in the school choir. I used to do drama club and it made me more confident.

Hello my name is Jessica. I think everyone is good at art because everyone is different! I am good at supporting people. You should never give up on things on things you want to do!
