On Thursday we had some very exciting visitors in F2! Longleat came to visit us and they brought lots of different animals for us to learn about, including an armadillo, a tarantula, a lizard, a scorpion, a cockroach and a snake.
As part of our topic this term we have been learning that a nocturnal animal sleeps in the day and is awake at night.
The children were so brave and loved being able to see and hold lots of different animals and have since produced some fantastic writing about the experience.
Thank you Longleat!
Yesterday the children in Swindon and Savernake were able to come to school in their pyjamas for the entry point of our topic this half term, Day and Night. This was a fantastic way to capture the children’s interests and engage them in their learning.
As well as wearing our pyjamas, the children (and staff!) also brought in their favourite story and teddy. We shared our favourite stories and teddies and discussed why they are our favourites.
We had lots of fun and enjoyed coming to school in our pyjamas!
Today Savernake and Swindon went on our first welly walk. We had so much fun!
We explored the school grounds to look for different shades of green using our sense of sight. Everyone was very excited to put on their wellies and coats and go outside to see what they could find. The children have taken home their colour charts with what they have found so that they can talk about this with their adults at home. We are all looking forward to going for another welly walk next week, please remember to bring your coat to school everyday and bring your wellies if you haven’t already.
The children have enjoyed their first week at school and are settling in well. It has been a pleasure to see them coming into school with a smiley face, ready for their new learning adventure. The children have engaged in a variety of activities and are becoming familiar with school routines. Lots of the children have been enjoying school dinners and have commented on how yummy they are! The children have explored the outside area and have had lots of fun using the mud kitchen, climbing frame and sand pit. The children have taken part in their first PE lesson with lots of enthusiasm and energy. Many of you have been sharing your child’s reading books with them at home, the children are enjoying new stories at school and are eager to receive their first reading certificate.
